I wanted to make this year that bit more memorable for Rebirth fans, and had been trawling through the past decade of material in order to show a bit of the project's history. In the process I encountered a lot of nostalgia and got choked up a little.
It's undeniable. I've seen a lot of creative fan sites come and go during the course of Rebirth's existence. Hand-crafted, made with the sort of love and care you'd expect from those dedicated to a franchise they enjoy. But fandom doesn't necessarily last. People either grow out of, get frustrated or bored with it and leave the whole thing behind. Taking a look at a selection of awards from various sites that are no longer around -some of them quite popular in their day- was quite moving for me. The memories of visiting these sites, interacting with their creators and sharing in a fandom are pretty fresh.
Sentimentality aside, I'm glad to say that Rebirth is still here, I'm still very much enjoying writing it, and its wonderful to know you're enjoying reading it!
I've written you guys a big thank you letter, but you'll have to
download the 10th anniversary magazine in order to read it. Besides that, it contains talk about Ultimatum's revision, a trip down media memory lane and a look at the new faker roster and Tatto.
Other goodies to amuse yourselves with over the coming months:
"Altered Paths" is entirely revised and
online to read! The first of two anniversary competitions is now running. If you like drawing and like Errol, you
might want to give it a look. There are cool prizes to win including an exclusive design mug, Meowth AllStars DVD and sketch draft pages from Altered Paths itself.
I'll be off to work on Ultimatum's revision for now. Hope you enjoy the goodies, and thanks for continuing to support Pokemon Rebirth!
