Hey guys! How about that Black and White 2 trailer? I would love to see a whole anime series spin-off with that flavour. I liked the art style, and there was a level of emotion you don't tend to get in the currently-running series.

Work on "Ultimatum"'s revision is going well. It definitely won't be done in the next two months though, I'm afraid to say. On the up side, feedback on some excerpts from a good friend of mine who has read the previous versions was just the sort I was looking for. So the wait should be worth it. C:

Also, on a more random note, I finally made a fav icon for Pokemon Rebirth. You should be able to view it on the main site's page tabs.

Catch you later!

Draw Info, Screens, Revision Update
[info]caat1985
April 10th 2012 -

Ten days ago I uploaded "King of Kings", a new comic short, to the "Chronicles:Rebirth" collection. Why not go check it out?

While it is still early days yet, I'm getting psyched for the prize draw I intend to hold alongside Ultimatum's revision release. Lately I ordered a copy of Pokemon Chronicles Volume 2&3 to go in the prize package, as Chronicles is one of my fave spin offs and those two volumes have some of the best episodes on (not to mention a couple that Rebirth stories link to).

Other things you can hope to look forward to in the available prizes collection are glossy postcard prints and mini CDs containing the eBooks of "Altered Paths" and "Ultimatum", as well as -with a bit of luck- some exclusive Rebirth themed stickers, and a shirt for one lucky winner whose name is pulled from the draw list.

Episode 13 of Ultimatum's revision is coming along relatively well!

Rebirth's Digital Library goes Live
[info]caat1985
March 24th 2012 -

It is with a good measure of excitement that I present Pokemon Rebirth in eBook format! Now you can click and download your favourite stories as .pdf in one accessible file, for printing or sharing with your friends.

At the moment, only the text based stories have been converted into this format, but the comic ones will follow in due course. And I can't guarantee these will look reasonable on an eBook reader. We can only hope they do. :B

Also, the Production Status page has been updated with new information. Those of you eager to know what's going on behind the scenes at Rebirth HQ might want to check that out.

Catch you Later, Pokefans!

Keeping You in the Know
[info]caat1985
Sure has been a hive of activity on the general Pokemon scene, huh? While sequels to BW are intriguing, I'm more fascinated on the Nobunaga's Ambition/Pokemon crossover game getting an English language release. Pleeeease make it happen, Nintendo - I can hack more turn based battling if it has a twist like that. C:

Lately I've had an idea avalanche with regards to episode 12 of Ultimatum, so that's been encouraging. But there's still a lot of work to be done on the revision. The more I write, the more I realise needs adjusting. And in the process, the result gets better and better!

After the revision is written, I am intending to process it through a select group of previewers which were decided upon early last year (if they're still able to do so).
Once that is complete, I plan to release each 'episode' of Ultimatum on a daily basis over the course of a month - just to make sure no avid fans explode their brains trying to read all 40-something parts at once. Ehehe.
Though it looks like this may well become an 11th anniversary revision as opposed to a 10th anniversary one. I will continue to keep you all posted, either way!

Rebirth 10th Anniversary Contest #1 RESULTS

Check out the nifty entries to the contest, and see who won, by clicking here!

Don't forget, I still require votes for the shirt design that'll be part of the prize selection for next contest. You don't have to be an artist to enter, just a fan of Rebirth. Check out our downloadable eZine's back page for more info.

Working on Ultimatum's revision some more at the moment. C:

Bye for now!

Rebirth 10th Anniversary Contest #1 EXTENSION
[info]caat1985
Hi guys! I'm still here. Just working on Ultimatum's revision behind the scenes. Still aiming for the summer release date, though its starting to look a little iffy due to the interchange of job work, ill health and channelling most of my creative time into the animated feature film, Outcast Hero.

Still, if you were interested in entering the first 10th Anniversary contest, the entry date has been extended until the end of the month. Get those entries in!

Also check out the Rebirpedia feed for our latest bunch of updates. Getting closer to having everything transferred at last, then I can work on refining the existing articles and adding new ones. Contemplated getting the 4th season of Pokemon on DVD yesterday in order to flesh out more of the RU's history, but it was totalling £50 to do so. Oof.

On a random note, I'm rather looking forward to PokePark 2 and Nobunaga's Ambition, if they make an English release of it.

Catch you later, Pokefans!

Notifiers
[info]caat1985
To those of you eager to follow progress, I have added a tracker for how far into Ultimatum's revision I am, just underneath the news updates feed (on the main site page, if you're actually reading this on Livejournal). I have also added a tracker for the Rebirpedia that lets you see the most recent entries updated. The Rebirpedia's new Wiki is now linked to the main site also, as I feel enough pages have been moved now. I'll be continuing to move and update remaining pages accordingly.

Hope everyone has an awesome rest of their year!

Rebirth is 10 years old today!
[info]caat1985
I wanted to make this year that bit more memorable for Rebirth fans, and had been trawling through the past decade of material in order to show a bit of the project's history. In the process I encountered a lot of nostalgia and got choked up a little.

It's undeniable. I've seen a lot of creative fan sites come and go during the course of Rebirth's existence. Hand-crafted, made with the sort of love and care you'd expect from those dedicated to a franchise they enjoy. But fandom doesn't necessarily last. People either grow out of, get frustrated or bored with it and leave the whole thing behind. Taking a look at a selection of awards from various sites that are no longer around -some of them quite popular in their day- was quite moving for me. The memories of visiting these sites, interacting with their creators and sharing in a fandom are pretty fresh.

Sentimentality aside, I'm glad to say that Rebirth is still here, I'm still very much enjoying writing it, and its wonderful to know you're enjoying reading it!

I've written you guys a big thank you letter, but you'll have to download the 10th anniversary magazine in order to read it. Besides that, it contains talk about Ultimatum's revision, a trip down media memory lane and a look at the new faker roster and Tatto.

Other goodies to amuse yourselves with over the coming months:

"Altered Paths" is entirely revised and online to read!
The first of two anniversary competitions is now running. If you like drawing and like Errol, you might want to give it a look. There are cool prizes to win including an exclusive design mug, Meowth AllStars DVD and sketch draft pages from Altered Paths itself.

I'll be off to work on Ultimatum's revision for now. Hope you enjoy the goodies, and thanks for continuing to support Pokemon Rebirth!

What Might and Might not have Been
[info]caat1985
I was pointed in the direction of an apparent set of concept pitches for early Pokemon seasons by Takeshi Shudo, before he left. Interestingly, some of his ideas mirrored concepts Rebirth later adopted in some form or another. But, as we know, in the anime, they were turned down in favour of the tried and tested 'problem of the day' format that was done to death during the Johto arc.

Now, I'm not complaining. If Johto had not been chock full of filler episodes, Rebirth probably wouldn't have existed. And then I wouldn't have met all the awesome people I know today.

On the surface, Pokemon Rebirth may just seem like a product of fandom. But underneath, it really pushed my creativity. Rebirth taught me a lot about how to construct an engaging story and how to lay it down. It prepared me to write the script for my feature film. From what I've heard, its even inspired other people to return to art again. It's done a lot more than some might realise.

So as we approach the 10th anniversary of this project, let us be grateful to the writers of the Pokemon anime. Because what can initially seem a bad thing sometimes brings forth something entirely unexpected.

Professor Oak VA Interview, Project Updates
[info]caat1985
Just wanted to share this interview with Stuart Zagnit - the original VA for Professor Oak- with you lot. It gave me feelings of both nostalgia and sadness. Toward the end of the video you can clearly see the emotional impact losing that role had, and I can sympathize with that, as both a fan of Pokemon and as a VA. Losing the job of voicing a character you voiced for a long time is like losing a part of yourself.

Chapter 7 of Altered Paths is slowly being polished, and with a bit of luck will start being put online from the 8th of November. Health has been hindering me somewhat on that front.
